There was only so much temptation a man could take, and Karl had reached his limit. Sitting here with Stacy tucked beside him as she listened with attention and sympathy, and snuggled with tiny, unconscious movements, he wanted her. Maybe it was her youth worker training, but she had a way of inviting confidences, and that created a sense of intimacy that he wanted to explore in other ways.

After months alone, he suddenly craved touch.

He wouldn’t complicate things with sex; not while Pia was in town and intent on causing trouble with her demands. Besides which, there was the issue of respecting the trust Stacy had placed in him by being alone with him. But a kiss couldn’t hurt, could it?

It turned out that a kiss had the power to turn his world upside down.

Stacy’s lips were soft and tasted of strawberries, champagne and woman.

Instinctively, he increased the pressure of his mouth against hers, compelled to demand more by the sweetness he discovered. He threaded his fingers through her hair, enjoying the silken fall of it against his forearm as she tipped her head to another angle.

Desire flooded through him, fed by her obvious passion.

Her dance training was there in every supple movement of her body, each subtle, eager expression of welcome.

The kiss started out exploratory, a testing of the attraction running between them, but it immediately blazed into something far more.
